Cairn Terrier
The Cairn terrier has its origins in Scotland.
It has a lifespan of 13 to 14 years and is a small dog that weighs just around 13 to 14 pounds. They are an excellent choice if you are looking for a family pet, and if you can give them some land to play.
They don’t shed, but you need to give them some weekly combing to remove dead hair.
Shih Tzus
Shih Tzus are from China and are relatively low shedders.
They have an average lifespan of 12 to 14 years. They can grow up to 11 inches tall and 16 pounds in weight. Also known as the ‘lion dog’, the Shih Tzu is a great companion.
Low shedding doesn’t mean you can throw your brush away. This fellow needs daily brushing and regular trimming.
Yorkshire Terrier
The Yorkshire Terrier is a cool-looking dog with a magnificent coat. He is not much of a shedder, and you’ll hardly find any hair in your house.
They can live up 16 years and are very low weight dogs at just around 7 pounds. They are fun to play with inside the house and need at least 30 minutes of exercise a day.
Puli
The Hungarian Puli is bigger than other dogs in the category. Some may even go to call it as a medium-sized dog. It has a lifespan of around 10 to 15 years and can grow up to 18 inches tall.
There is no shedding with this one, but be warned that they have a lot of hair. This means you need to do a lot of maintenance when it comes to its hair. If you are too lazy for that, there are other dogs on the list.
Australian Terrier
They are from Australia, which you would have never guessed if we hadn’t told you. They grow up to 11 inches tall and have an average lifespan of 12 to 14 years.
This dog is a great pet in the city. It is well suited for play and entertainment. The dog does require some weekly trimming, but nothing heavier on the maintenance side of things.
Havanese
The Havanese is a Cuban dog that doesn’t shed. The dog can grow up to 11.5 inches tall and 14 pounds in weight. The average lifespan for this breed is around 14 to 16 years.
The dog does have a long coat, and you need to groom it every day. But if you are looking to get yourself a cute small dog that doesn’t shed, the Havanese breed is a great choice.
Peekapoo
The Peekapoo is a companion dog that doesn’t shed that much. The average lifetime of a peekapoo is around 10 to 15 years. It can grow up to 11 inches tall at the shoulder and can be up to 20 pounds in weight.
Coton de Tulear
The Coton de Tulear is also known as the Royal Dog of Madagascar, its origin country.
This is a companion dog that grows up to 12 inches at the withers and up to 15 pounds in weight. The dog does come with a good coat but doesn’t shed much. If you can give him a little exercise and grooming every day, then you might have a good, cheerful dog in your hands.
Miniature Schnauzer
This German dog is a low shedder in spite of having a good amount of hair.
The miniature schnauzer grows up to 14 inches tall and has a weight that is proportionate to its height. The dog’s average lifetime is around 12 to 14 years.
The dog is easily trained and makes up an excellent watchdog. A wonderful friend of the family as well.
Maltese
The Maltese are gentle dogs that have their origin in Italy. They have a lifespan of around 12 to 14 years. Their weight ranges from 4 to 7 pounds.
Maltese dogs are known for their loyalty and make excellent companion pets. They are low shedders, but you will have to groom them every day.
Lhasa Apso
These Tibetan dogs are utility dogs that are used as watchdogs. They weigh around 12 to 18 pounds and grow up to 11 inches at the shoulder. 12 to 14 years is their average life span.
They are loyal and extremely devoted to the family. They have a beautiful coat but don’t shed. They do require some exercise every day, so they are not for the lazy ones in us.
Miniature Poodle

The poodle has a good coat, but it does not shed. It is mainly used as a utility dog, and some may even need up to 1 hour of active exercises a day.
Dachshund
Dachshunds are hound dogs that are used hunt badger, rabbits and other animals. They have a height of about 9 to 11 inches at the shoulder and can weigh from 16 to 32 pounds. The average life span is around 12 to 15 years.
The Dachshund is a playful dog and is also very intelligent. They don’t shed much, but still require some grooming. They are great for people who live in apartments and don’t have a backyard. They do need some exercise now and then.
Brussels Griffon
This breed is native to Belgium. This companion dog has a lifespan of about 12 to 15 years. There are no height standards, but it can weigh up to 12 pounds at best.
The Griffon is a curious watchdog in this size category. It is a nice coat and sheds relatively very little. They are obedient dogs, but training them from a very young age is necessary.
Affenpinscher
Affenpinscher is a German native that is known to be a companion dog. The average life span here is around 12 to 14 years and grows up to 11.5 inches at the withers.

Bichon Frise

The Bolognese are pretty rare, but excellent companion dogs. They grow up to 12 inches tall and up to 13 pounds in weight.
There is no shedding, but you need to groom him or her every day. The dog has an average lifespan of about 13 years. They are sporty dogs and would love to participate in games and long walks.
